The Club was designed to make a wide variety of activities available
to schools, teachers and their classes free of charge and in a safe environment.
But we felt it was equally important to go one step further and provide a more complete, personalised service to students who wish to communicate directly with other students using the range of tools offered by new technologies: email, audio chat and video chat.
Unfortunately, the individual use of sophisticated communication tools is costly in terms of server resources, rights of use and maintenance. The Big Challenge alone cannot finance this kind of service and that is why we have decided to offer to interested students the possibility of subscribing to an extra personalised service within the Club for a very small free.
As always at The Big Challenge, we aim to keep costs to a minimum and are pleased to offer student subscriptions at less than 0.75 € per month.
A subscription will allow students to find their own pen pals all over the world using detailed criteria: country, age, language, level of fluency, hobbies … They can then get in contact and communicate with the selected pen pals via email, using the Club’s internal message service, via audio chat, speaking directly through a computer and even by video chat, using a webcam. All the necessary software is integrated within the site and no additional downloads are required.
Once students have subscribed, they can find as many pen pals as they wish and spend unlimited time communicating in the languages they are learning. All this for less than 0.75 € a month!
