The English language contest, The Big Challenge, was created by a group of English teachers and was held for the first time in France on 19 May 1999. It is a contest for middle school students who are studying English as a foreign language.

The Big Challenge is now organised in France, Germany and Spain. Over 600 000 students from more than 5 500 schools participate each year.

As teachers, we feel that this type of fun educational event helps motivate students to learn English.

With the same goal in mind, we have decided to launch The Big Challenge Club which uses the internet to promote language exchange.
